About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. Product notes

In the northern part of Fuissé and on the edge of the Hameau de Pouilly, the “Tournant de Pouilly” is a one-hectare vineyard in two plots, facing North-East and on a gentle slope. This historic vineyard is located within the 1er Cru “Les Reisses”. This plot selection, just over 60 years old on average, is one of the oldest vines on the estate.

Production notes

Fermentation and aging take place in barrels including 25% new barrels, 75% barrels of 1 to 3 wines for 10 months. The aging continued in stainless steel vats, still with all of their lees for another 9 months.

Tasting notes

Always a little austere and shy at first glance, it is undoubtedly the most "chic" of the plot selections with its chalky touch and its fresh and persistent finish. Pairings with fish and poultry

Allen Meadows, August 2023 (Vintage 2021)

derate wood is present on the markedly floral-scented nose of lemon-lime, apple, quinine and a plethora of citrus elements. As is typically the case, the broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration and imposing power while delivering first-class length on the youthfully austere finale. Even by the excellent standards of this wine vintage in and vintage out, this is a big example in 2021.

William Kelley, October 2023 (Vintage 2021)

The most complete wine in the range is the 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Hors-Classe Tournant de Pouilly, an attractively satiny, seamless wine redolent of toasted nuts, pear, orange oil, youthful reduction and a deft hint of toasty oak. It largely transcends the challenges of the vintage.

Neil Martin, June 2023 (Vintage 2021)

The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé Tournant de Pouilly 1er Cru was reduced to four barrels this year due to extensive hail damage. It has an attractive bouquet with lemon verbena and crushed chalky scents. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, quite saline with lemon thyme and light ginger notes towards a finish that has a pleasing directness.
