About this winery

It was with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules that the history of Maison Louis Jadot began in 1826. It took Louis Henry Denis Jadot thirty years to found the House in 1859, and to establish the values of this family business. By developing the wine trade in the markets of northern Europe, he was already contributing to the reputation of Burgundy wines at the time. Product notes

At the exit of the village of Fuissé, behind Mont Pouilly in the middle of the slope, the vineyard covers an area of 80 acres and benefits from an eastern exposure. The deep non-stony silty-clay soil comes from residual clays. It has limestone and marl-limestone banks at depth.

Production notes

Fermentation and aging take place in barrels including 25% new barrels, 75% barrels of 1 to 3 wines for 10 months. The aging continued in stainless steel vats, still with all of their lees for another 9 months.

Tasting notes

With a well-established Mâconnaise imprint, and a dense material, the Ménétrières are an illustration of a perfect Fuisséienne as Jeanne Ferret understood it. After slight aeration, floral notes emerge, but also verbena and lemon balm, all in delicacy. We note density and exceptional length. Pairings with Veal chop

Neal Martin, June 2024 (Vintage 2022)

The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Ménétrières 1er Cru is more reticent on the nose following on from the Les Perrières. Crushed stone and subtle menthol notes emerge with aeration. Fine delineation (again). The palate is well balanced with fine depth, but this year, I found more complexity within the Les Perrières, and it needs a little more mineralité on the finish. Nonetheless, it is a well-crafted Pouilly-Fuissé, albeit no best in show the vintage.

Allen Meadows, August 2023 (Vintage 2022)

Here the nose is similar to the Perrières but with more floral influence. In contrast to the relatively refined mouthfeel of the Perrières, the notably bigger-bodied flavors are rich, concentrated and powerful with seriously good punch on the strikingly long, balanced and sappy finale. In the context of what is typical for Pouilly-Fuissé, this is a big wine. Sweet spot
