Product notes

The Santenay appellation is located south of the Côte de Beaune. The "en Gatsulards" vineyard is located opposite the Clos de Malte, slightly higher. The ground is very stony and steep, difficult to work. Oriented full South and has the particularity of heating up very quickly. It is also located in a very windy place.

Production notes

Manual harvest, sorted and destemmed. Aging for around 18 months in our cooperage's barrels, about a third of which are new.

Tasting notes

Deep color with garnet reflections. Open nose with aromas of blackcurrant, violet and undergrowth. The texture on the palate is generous, opulent, marked by aromas of wild strawberries and sour cherries, enhanced by silky tannins of impressive aromatic complexity. Nice freshness on the finish. Pair with grilled tuna, beef tartare and hard cheeses.

William Kelley, January 2022 (Vintage 2020)

The 2020 Santenay Clos des Gatsulards Monopole (Domaine Gagey) is a particular success, delivering aromas of raspberries, orange rind, petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with velvety tannins and a nicely defined finish, it will offer a broad drinking window.
