About this winery
Founded in 1879 by the brothers Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asua, the Compañia Vinicola del Norte de España is one of the oldest estates in La Rioja. C.V.N.E. is located in Haro, in the traditional wine trade district, next to the train station. In this period when transport was not very advanced, there was a definite advantage in locating your cellar very close to a train station! By 1900, this company had more than 80,000 bottles intended for prolonged aging, which was rare at that time...

Product notes
Heredad Arano is made from grapes grown on vines over 20 years old at the Moradillo de Roa estate. These vines cover 9 hectares, spread across the parcels of Blancares, El Charco, Presas, Estepar, and Pozuelo Pico, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, on stony soils and under a continental climate. These terraced vineyards are composed of gravel, silt, and sandy-loam soils. The soils vary in depth and have a medium to high limestone content.
Production notes
The grapes are hand-harvested into 10 kg crates and fermented in stainless steel tanks after a four-day cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine is aged in French oak barrels for at least 15 months.
Tasting notes
A wine of deep color, a brilliant cherry red with violet highlights. Intense aromas of black fruit, coffee, pure cocoa, and licorice, along with notes of white flowers, characteristic of Tempranillo from the Burgos region of Ribera del Duero. A balance between oak and fruit is achieved through extended aging in oak barrels, which imparts spicy, toasty, and balsamic aromas while respecting the black fruit notes. On the palate, a beautiful acidity and silky tannins provide roundness and structure. The finish is long and persistent, with an intense lingering taste of black fruit. Pairs well with BBQ and braised red meats.
