About this winery
Wine making is growing exponentially in Quebec, which now has more than 200 producers. Acquired in September 2012 by the Daoust family, the vineyard is established on the site of the former Brownlee estate. The estate, which covers 263 acres, includes a stone residence built 180 years ago and a few buildings. The choice of Hemmingford in southern Quebec to found a vineyard seems quite natural, since within a radius of a few kilometers, you will find half a dozen vineyards and cider houses....

Product notes
The vineyard soils are composed of very calcareous sandy loam. They are criss-crossed by clay-limestone veins, making them an ideal terroir for vines. These characteristics give the wines great amplitude and a very interesting salinity. The south-facing aspect ensures excellent grape ripeness. The vines are grassed and the soil is worked mechanically under the rows.
Production notes
This cuvée comes from the ripest zone of our large Marquette parcel, as we noticed that there was a gradient of ripeness between the east and west of the field. The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted in the field. We then carried out 2 different vinifications: the first using carbonic maceration (the grapes are put whole into the vat, then pressed after 17 days) and the second using the “traditional” method (the grapes are destemmed and crushed before going into the vat and being pressed after 8 days). After alcoholic fermentation, the 2 cuvées undergo malolactic fermentation and ageing separately, before being blended in the spring, then fined and packaged.
Tasting notes
The color is slightly intense, red with purplish highlights. The nose is a blend of jammy fruit, cocoa and sweet spices.
