About this winery

The history of the House of Schoröder & Schÿler has very ancient origins. We are in fact at the heart of the Seven Years' War where France opposed England from 1756 to 1763. Trade between France and the Antilles begins to become complicated; this is why Schröder & Schÿler decides to buy a frigate to continue to supply spices, indigo and other products. The story continues and the problems show no sign of abating. Passing through during the storming of the Bastille at the time of the French...

Product notes

Pyrenean gravels, carried by the Garonne River during the Quaternary period to a depth of 5 meters, provide natural drainage, excellent root development, and support the four different grape varieties. These plots are located on the Cantenac plateau, whose highest point, "Moulin Robert," is situated 21 meters above sea level.

Production notes

Gravity-filled tanks. Selected yeasts and bacteria are used to carry out both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations simultaneously. Fermentation takes place for 7 to 15 days in small, temperature-controlled, tulip-shaped concrete tanks maintained at 25-26°C. The wine is then pressed in a vertical press with precise pressure control, and gravity flows directly into barrels for optimal selection and quality of the press wines. The wine is then aged for 18 to 20 months in concrete tulip tanks and barrels.

Tasting notes

An elegant nose of redcurrant tinged with floral nuances (violet) and sweet spices, a clean, flavorful, fruity palate, supported by good freshness and fine tannins. Pairs well with beef.

James Suckling, April 2023 (Vintage 2021)

Nice purity and expressiveness of fruit here. Red and blue berries, strawberries with a touch of spices and dark earth. A juicy palate, full of red berries and cherries with a nimble, medium-long finish. Crunchy and linear with fresh, sleek tannins. A fine, fresh Margaux for early drinking. Enjoy now.
