The history of the House of Schoröder & Schÿler has very ancient origins. We are in fact at the heart of the Seven Years' War where France opposed England from 1756 to 1763. Trade between France and the Antilles begins to become complicated; this is why Schröder & Schÿler decides to buy a frigate to continue to supply spices, indigo and other products. The story continues and the problems show no sign of abating. Passing through during the storming of the Bastille at the time of the French Revolution, suspected of complicity with royalty, the four directors of Schröder & Schÿler soon find themselves imprisoned and condemned to the gallows. Fortunately Lacombe, president of the military commission of Bordeaux, orders that they be released and the fate of the company can thus continue. We arrive in 1870, when the ships, loaded with wine in barrels from the newly classified grands crus, set sail for the East Indies. This is how the Schröder & Schÿler wine brand "Retour des Indes" was born.
